What is blockchain, and why will it transform the way we work? Come learn how blockchain technology will influence real estate’s future – including investment, purchase, leasing, and financing – as well as what questions to ask about this rapidly developing technology. Attorney David Thelander and blockchain entrepreneur Saureen Shah will reveal opportunities and challenges presented by the use of blockchain for real estate transactions, in conversation with moderator Morgan Mills Suttich.

David Thelander is Special Counsel for the law firm of Gravel & Shea, leading the first dedicated blockchain practice group in Vermont.  With over 30 years’ experience, he has an extensive background in legal, risk management and compliance issues related to securities and investment advisory services. He has been integrally involved in legal developments involving the rapidly expanding use of blockchain technology in financial, real estate and other business ventures.

Saureen Shah is the Co-Founder and CEO of Spot Protocol, a company that is developing a blockchain protocol to represent, fund, and tokenize real estate assets. Saureen was also the Cofounder and CTO of a Y Combinator and Benchmark Capital-backed company called Instawork, an on-demand blue-collar jobs marketplace. Prior to his life as an entrepreneur, Saureen was the 10th engineer at YouTube, working on all aspects of YouTube's technology stack.

Morgan Mills Suttich has spent his 15+ year career in operations and analytics. His journey has taken him through many forms of retail, including stints at Simon Property Group, Target Stores (including involvement in the international expansion of Target Canada), The E35 Group and Ross stores.
