Other questions:

1. How did you move up in your career at Build Group and what advice do you have for women who wish to advance in their jobs?
When I started at Build Group, just over 5 years ago, I was the only person in marketing and have since grown the department to 5. I think a lot of my success has come from knowing my value and not being afraid to ask for what I need. As my department grew, my position elevated into more strategic and corporate-level interface with the partners of my company.

As for advice to other women; be authentic and diplomatic. I think it is important to try and always be the calmest person in the room, but know when to be assertive. Work hard but have boundaries and ALWAYS encourage, support, and lift up other women.

2. What have been your greatest contributions to CREW SF?
I think my biggest contribution to CREW SF is encouraging my colleagues to not only join but to get actively involved at all levels. Currently, Build Group has a member in every committee!

3. What advice do you want to give a prospective CREW SF member?
Jump in with both feet. Go outside your comfort zone and volunteer for something. JUST SAY YES!

4. How has CREW SF benefitted you personally and/or professionally?
CREW SF has become such a grounding and like-minded community for me. I haven’t had the great fortune of having female mentors and through the relationships I have made in CREW, I feel like I have gained dozens of women I can lean on.

5. What do you like to do on the weekends?
Spend slow time with my husband and daughter. The work weeks are so rushed and scheduled, it is nice to just be present with one another.

6. What’s a fun fact that you’d like to share about yourself?
I’m a home renovation junkie…there is always a major project happening at my house. It is an outlet for creative problem solving and an opportunity to express my design-side.
