Members of the CREW Network Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force met in-person on Feb. 10, 2020 in Dallas, Texas

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force

The CREW Network Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force will provide input and insights to assist in accomplishing the established strategic objectives in the CREW Network Strategic Plan. The task force’s work will help advance the organization’s goals to increase diversity, equity and inclusion in the membership and leadership.

CREW SF asked our two participants for a few words about why they wanted to participate in the task force

Ashley Breakfield: I was thrilled to see CREW Network create this fantastic task force of really creative, thoughtful, and diverse women. The challenges facing women in commercial real estate are not the same across the board, and each of our members brings unique traits, characteristics, and experiences to the organization. I strongly believe there is always work to be done to ensure that those distinctive aspects are acknowledged and those perspectives are included. The task force looks forward to providing strategies, resources, insights, and perspectives on creating an environment that promotes and prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion in our chapters. And I am particularly excited to get more involved in our SF chapter in this and other ways!

Catherine Meng: I wanted to participate in the Task Force because I felt it would be a good way for me to give back to CREW but also to help make it an even stronger organization. I’ve long been interested in issues surrounding DEI and believe they affect everyone, and not just a select few. The Task Force meets remotely once a month, but we had an in-person meeting in Dallas back in February. It was such an amazing group of women, from across the world, all working toward the same goal of advancing DEI in CREW’s membership and leadership. I went in not knowing what to except, but came back to SF very inspired by the passion and stories of the other Task Force members. We are focusing on a few different program areas, and I’m excited to share with the rest of the SF chapter what we come up with in the near future.
