CREW SF Background:
I joined CREW SF in January 2018 because I was seeking a supportive community to learn, grow and be supported. CREWmates is what initially attracted me, and the first committee I joined was Communications. The following year, I served as the vice-chair of the Communications Committee. When I returned after having my daughter in September 2019, I remained on the Communications Committee, but also joined Membership to expand my growth within the CREW community. I’ve continued to be a part of CREWmates, as well as Wing Woman.
1. How did you move up in your career at and what advice do you have for women who wish to advance in their jobs?
Align and connect yourself with people who inspire you. If you want to be better, you need to be around better – I learned this while playing soccer growing up. I was in an advanced league and on a team a few years ahead of my age group. I excelled because I was around likeminded teammates who were focused and determined to improve and be better. Hang out with people who act on their big ideas, who take action in positive change. Be around inspired, visionary people. At the end of the day, I gravitate toward the team working together. Goals win!
2. What do you like most about your job and/or industry?
The people and being an influence for positive change. I like making connections, understanding company needs and working with the client to make that vison a reality. I love having the ability to surprise and playing a part in success. It’s thrilling.
3. What’s a fun fact that you’d like to share about yourself?
As a kid I loved dancing to music, and most often, it was at Round Table Pizza in front of a pizza parlor filled with people I didn’t know. I didn’t care who was watching, I danced because I wanted to.Now, I get to witness my 2-year-old daughter doing to same thing whenever music is played. Just pure joy twirling and jumping around to the beat (or sometimes not, but who cares!). The point is, when your desire is strong enough, nothing will hold you back. Be, do and have whatever it is that you desire.
